Introduction to Vastu Shastra

Any Architectural structure relating to a city or a society or a house or a temple or a school or a shop or any residential entity or any business house or complex are governed by principles of Vastu Shastra. Its basic concepts are enumerated as below:-

• Vastu of a home is decided by position of Vastu Purusha. Vastu Purusha’s head lies in North-East direction; His feet are in South-West direction; His left elbow is in North-West direction whereas his right elbow is in South-East direction; His naval is at the center of the house.

• We know that now-a-days it is not an easy task to construct a vastu-compliant home especially in metropolitan cities. The residential units are constructed as per convenience of city and society planners. So, we have to think about remedial measures to make our home vastu-compliant. Vastu Shastra: Science of creating positive energy in your space

• If you take care of all the directions properly, you are going to create positive energy in your space. If your worship place is in North-East direction or Esan Kona, you are going to get positive energy from this direction at home. Similarly, if you block your home with closed windows and high construction in south and you put heavy articles at this direction of your home, you are going to block negative energy coming from this direction. Thus, vastu shastra is quite scientific and application of its principles at your home makes your life quite smooth and comfortable.
• Similarly, the level of slope at your house should be higher in south and south-west directions whereas it should be lower at north and north-east directions. It is done with the purpose of getting you free from negative energy and simultaneously full of positive energy.

• We know that just like our body, vastu or a house is also a living soul. Thus, Vastu consists of five great elements. These elements are earth, water, fire, air and Ether (Aakash). In fact, balancing of these elements rectifies vastu defects at your home.
• For rectification of these defects, we have to supplement certain portion of our home with certain deficient element either by putting some picture or some object at that place or in a particular direction representing that particular element.
• Sometimes, our recitation of certain mantras of particular deities ruling a particular direction also does away with a vastu defect at our home.
• We know that gravitational force, electro-static force, geo-magnetic force, etc. are operational in the universe. Thus, we have to ensure that negative forces do not enter the house and if accidentally, they enter, their exit is to be ensured.
• Similarly, Sun emits both positive and negative radiations. So, if we allow certain positive radiations such as ultra violet radiations at our home in the morning and simultaneously we block negative radiations such as infrared radiations in the afternoon at our home, we can save our home and its inhabitants from untold miseries.
